YouTube channels I’m subscribed to.
I’m currently subscribed to four different series. Two of those are ‘hosted’ by the same person, one of which also appears as a podcast.
The first series is a very informative series on (mostly) Tudor era history with some videos outside of that depending on what questions have been asked of Dr. Kat who owns the channel. She studied Tudor history and has a very engaging way of presenting the videos. If a topic is suggested, she puts it on a list of things she does research on and posts it at some point down the track. She did mention in a video she made recently that she does a video based on questions or things people have mentioned after she has done research on it. Her videos are posted late on Friday early Saturday Australia time. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is interested in Tudor England.
I’ve also been watching FBI Files and various crime stuff done by a YouTube channel called Real Crime. One problem I’ve found with the various other crime stuff the channel posts is that some of them are not available to me in Australia. I have tried contacting them to ask why they aren’t available or how I can get access. I have not had a response yet.
The Podcast channel I listen to called Dark History is hosted by Bailey Sarian. I love it despite the ad breaks included as part of the show. Bailey has a very engaging way of telling the stories that I very much enjoy. She did say that the ads she does in the show help pay the bills and I like the way she manages to pull off a seamless transition between telling the story and presenting the ads. The podcast is also posted on YouTube. I alternate between YouTube and Apple’s podcast streaming.
Bailey Sarian also has a channel called Murder, Mystery, and Makeup. Until October, she’s taking a break from it. The episodes run for about 45 minutes. In most cases, she finishes her makeup before the end of the episode. I listen to it for the most part but I’m sometimes fascinated by watching her put the makeup on. She’s recently started putting warnings at the beginning of episodes just in case people are sensitive to certain topics or photos, since she does include some photographs. Mainly she sticks to describing the scenes and explaining the events of the crime and the investigation, although some people might find even the descriptions graphic. Again, I do like the way she tells the story and find it very engaging.
So there are a few of the things I watch/listen to that might be interesting.
